What do you do in your free time/hobbies?
I am a passionate filmmaker and cinematographer. I’ve worked on both short and feature films, varying from comedies, dramas, and documentaries. I recently worked on a production involving my alma mater, SMU, and their football program.
Why did you choose to major in accounting?
I chose accounting because I’m analytical by nature and find solace in numbers. Plus, accounting is the foundation of business. Without tracking performance and establishing benchmarks, companies would be lost.
What are your business goals?
My goals are to learn as much about my clients as possible to help them remain compliant with necessary guidelines, target their strengths and weaknesses, and understand the aspects of their industry that most directly impact their performance.
What do you like about the SST culture?
SST culture is about independence, autonomy, education and development. We are independent of our clients’ businesses, which allows us to stay impartial and maintain objectivity. SST allows each person to work as a team, but also remain autonomous in decision-making and have a sense of self-propriety. SST is continuously educating their employees by focusing on industry guidelines, technological advancements, soft skill training, and personal development to create the most well-rounded individuals.
Would you like to expand on why you choose to work at SST?
I chose SST because of the balance they allow between firm growth, individual advancement, and family values. There is plenty of room to achieve outside interests and have fun with friends and family, while also keeping the firm’s goals in mind.
What is the most valuable lesson you have learned working at SST?
I have learned the importance of teamwork, the travails of time management, the reward of preparation, and the glory of accomplishment. All of these things are tested and triumphed through the firm’s attitude towards its employees. They want each person to feel pride in their work and feel rewarded because of it.
