This week Eileen Keller and Ron Salmon are attending the annual convention for the Career Education Colleges and Universities in Las Vegas (#CECU17). CECU promotes access, accountability and excellence in postsecondary career education and provides the following types of memberships to college and university professionals:
- Allied/Allied Plus
- Financial Advisory Council
CECU is focused on creating 5 million career professionals during the next 10 years and several weeks ago CECU announced a set of proposals for the U.S. Department of Education surrounding the Reauthorization of the Higher Education Act. The 2017 convention is focused on building “Connections” as the attendees meet with and learn from leading experts and voices in the plenary session, concurrent sessions, industry exhibitors and each other.
By using the CECU App attendees can participate in the CECU QR Code Scavenger Hunt by completing QR codes provided throughout the convention and referring to the list of hints in the mobile app. The top two winners will be announced during the closing plenary on Thursday and the prizes are free registration to the 2018 Convention.
The convention offers 4 educational tracts of learning and provides CEU credits for the following areas:
- Campus Development – equipping campus leaders and educators to maximize student potential
- Government Relations – current regulations and challenges in Washington
- Student Success – strategies for innovative educational methods to prepare students for the demands of the workforce
- CECU Connections Badge – selection sessions from the 3 tracks listed above
During this past year CECU collected images submitted by schools showcasing the innovations, student development and successes seen on their respective campuses every day. The Art Exhibit will be on display in the Expo Hall of the top images CECU collected this year.
On Tuesday afternoon Eileen will join a panel of specialists discussing the new 2016 Proprietary School and Third-party Servicer Audit Guide. The panel includes 1 attorney and 3 CPAs who will share the changes imposed on new audit requirements that will affect audits after June 30, 2017.
CECU’s mission is to serve students, produce career professional and grow the sector services to the nation.
Good luck CECU convention!
